It's SANTA!

Jaci, Tatum, Amanda, Sarah, and I all went to the Mall today in Hays to go see Santa! Jaci has never really been too thrilled with Santa. Every year I have taken her to go see him she cries like crazy and refuses to sit on his lap! This year, thankfully, was a lot different!
Outside they had horse drawn carriage rides and they were a ton of fun! Jaci really enjoyed it!
I wish we had the pictures of her sittin on Santa's lap telling him she wanted a "tiger" but they wouldn't let us use any personal cameras! BOO!

Christmas is soooo close! I'm getting so excited for it!

THREE!

Jaci turned three years old today! She had a birthday party at her school with all her classmates and of course she wore her Rapunzel dress! We had a great day! After we both got out of school, we went out to eat and got some ice cream, then it was off to the movies to watch Tangled 3D!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MISS JACI LANE! =0D

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree..

The other day we went to my mother's house and set up her Christmas tree!

I downloaded a ton of Christmas music, and we brought it over with us. Listening to Nsync and Hanson Christmas music really got me into the "Christmas spirit!"

This is, hands down, my favorite ornament. Every year that I have helped put up the Christmas tree, I always make him look like he is skiing down the icicles! hehe

HAPPY SHOPPING!

Holly Jolly Christmas..

I read this in class yesterday:
"I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round, as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys." ~Charles Dickens

I used to love Christmas so much. Now, I stress for a month prior to Christmas and dread it.

You know what I think of when I think of Christmas? I don't think about the Shopping Days Left or how many presents I have under the tree. You know what I think of when I think of MY Christmas?
My grandparents.

When I was younger, Christmas wasn't about "finding the perfect present" and in turn causing yourself to have a massive amount of stress. It was about getting together and spending time with your family.
Now, my family can't even make time to all get together more than once a year. I can't remember any of the presents I got last year for Christmas (actually the only one I remember is my sister necklace, which I wear ALL ZE TIME!), but I can remember dancing in my grandparents TV room to Richard Simmons "Sweatin' to the Oldies" when I was 3 years old.

What has Christmas come to? When spending over $800 on Christmas presents was a means of showing the Christmas spirit? I miss when the only stress I had in my life around Christmas was playing capture the flag in my grandparents basement in the dark.

If you want to get me a present for Christmas, I'll tell you exactly what I want. I want books to read my daughter before bedtime, and I want you to donate to an angel on the Christmas trees at stores, and I want you to all come home for Christmas. That's truly what Christmas is all about.

Now, let's not forget...there are only 38 shopping days left for "Christmas."

*FIST PUMP!*

I recommend ANYONE and EVERYONE to see this movie in theatres. I know what you are all thinking, "It's RATED PG. Psh, that's for kids!" I disagree.

I laughed throughout the entire movie and so did Jaci. It was soooo funny! I am actually making Derek go with me this weekend! You can tell he thinks I am crazy, but I want you to all know I AM ONLY PARTLY CRAZY (on my mother's side). Go see it! You will not leave disappointed!

Another weekend for the books!

I spent another great weekend with my family and boyfriend again! (minus MINDY AND JOHN again...see a recurring theme?) My events went as follow:
1. Eat dinner with my boyfriend and go see Paranormal Activity 2.
I was really REALLY nervous about going to this movie. I thought I wouldn't sleep for days. It's really not that scary. The only thing that'll make you jump is the random LOUD BANGS! they throw in the middle of the movie that would make even a deaf person jump.

2. Eat ice cream right out of the bucket. I think Derek and I enjoyed this A LOTTTT for being "adults." We got cookie dough ice cream and it was amazingggg!

3. On Friday, Derek told me to "pick a place to eat." I searched all morning long and landed on a place called, Beer Kitchen. We drove down to eat there and it was very good! I don't think we were expecting it to be as nice as it was, but it was a very nice place! 4. Afterwards, Derek took us to this AWESOME bar downtown. (You'll have to ask him about his experience..I'll leave you all in suspense..)

5. Friday night, we went to another movie....DUE DATE! Derek and I had high expectations for it and it didn't fall short. It was hilarious! I recommend it to all.

6. Last but not least, the main event of our weekend!!! My cousin, Dan, got married.

Of course, I was the best looking date ever, so Derek was very lucky. =0p The wedding itself was absolutely gorgeous, and the reception hall was out of this world. (Actually, it was in downtown KC) They didn't serve dinner, but instead they served "heavy" hor'dourves. (spelling?) They were amazinggggg! I was obsessing over them....I love food too much, I think. Overall, another great weekend in Kansas City, but I sure did miss my Jaci Lane!

Beilman Halloween

Halloween was A LOT of fun this year (probably because it actually fell on a weekend!) We did a lot of fun activities on Sunday.
1. We made ghosts and worked hard coloring them. 2. ...and we decorated our door with them!3. We carved our pumpkin we got at the pumpkin patch!
4. We roasted our seeds we took out of our pumpkin. They were delicious! 5. TRICK OR TREATING!!!!!!!!! Jaci was a KU Cheerleader!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM JACI AND ME!!

Halloween Pi

For Halloween, Caroline and I (at 6:30 p.m.) made Halloween costumes. We went as apple pie and pumpkin pie.As you can see, we dressed up as our designated pie filling and made belts that said "3.14159." YESSSS WE ARE CREATIVE!! The only downfall was that only one person guessed our costumes right off the bat, otherwise, we had to tell them. It was still a lot of fun though!

Also at the party, I made our friend, Ryan, a costume out of some old beer cans. He wanted to go as Katy Perry but the only thing he had was the hair. So, I made him some whip cream cans for his chest...just like Katy Perry in the video.

Halloween 2010 was one for the books!

Pumpkin Patch

On Saturday, we went to the Pumpkin Patch outside Ellis. We had a lot of fun out there, even though the hay made me itch like crazy! There were lots of fun activities for Jaci while we waited for our ride out to the actual pumpkin patch...and numerous photo opportunities everywhere we went.

Jaci also got a purple pumpkin with a brown stem painted on her face while we were waiting! She was very excited and sat very still while the girl painted it on.
Jaci also went down this ultra unsafe slide that was bolted into a hay bale. Yeah, only in Kansas, right? Caroline took her up there and helped her go down so that she wouldn't get hurt.
FINALLY, our ride out to the pumpkin patch came...
And, after much time spent looking at icky broken pumpkins, we finally found some that were adequate enough to call our own. Caroline and I have matching pumpkins and Derek found Jaci a small ALL GREEN one! Overall, it was a perfect day for our family to spend some quality time together..and Jaci had a lot of fun! Next time, we will have to make plans for Mindy and John to come with us!

Chocolate chip cookies

So I'm on the phone with Derek when Jaci pops in the room and says, "I want to make cookies!" Naturally, I can't resist a cooking project so I tell her we will make some. We asked Derek what his favorite kind were and he told us chocolate chip cookies. Now, I have a very generic recipe for chocolate chip cookies that I got from my mother, and I love that I know it off the top of my head. However, for some stupid reason, I decided to look up recipes for chocolate chip cookies. Maybe to make absolutely amazing cookies that were better than my own...or just wanting to try something new. So I find a recipe entitled, "Award winning soft chocolate chip cookies" Sounds like a winner, right? Jaci and I made them mini-cookies or as I like to call them "two-biters."
The recipe called for "a box of instant vanilla pudding" which I thought was the only ODD thing about the recipe. So, I dump in a box of vanilla pudding and we bake these cookies that are to die for outta the oven. (We ate some of the cookie dough too...couldn't resist!)However, when I woke up this morning, these cookies were like BRICKS! I couldn't believe how HARD they were...didn't the name of the recipe state SOFT? If you throw them in the microwave for 8 seconds they go back to being AMAZING but still, they are hard as rocks!

goodbye, Mountain Dew, my only friend.

Soda is not a significant source of....anything. This four letter word, that I hold dear to my heart, is loaded with high-fructose corn syrup.

High fructose corn syrup = not good.

Last year, I gave up soda my fall semester just to see if I could do it. It was pretty easy to do, but once I started drinking it again, it was hard to cut it out. I am again going to attempt to eliminate soda from my house because it is all around better for ME and definitely better for my daughter. Instead, we are drinking juice, water, and milk. I, for one, am dying without Cerv's snoballs.

I was contemplating going and buying a snoball from Cerv's to take a photo of it for my blog, and THEN cutting out soda..but..that's just the Cerv's snoball devil tempting me and I'm not giving in!

Toby.

We have a new addition to our household. Caroline has gotten herself a puppy! His name is Toby!

Looks pretty big, huh? Well, this should put his "size" into perspective!!

He's soooo tiny!! I've fallen in love. He is very spunky but wears himself out easily. He came into my room tonight to help me do a little homework. However, he fell asleep, and that's when the photoshoot ensued. =0p

Balance is everything.

Having the time to play with my daughter, do my homework, research and write papers, study for exams, and get Jaci a healthy meal on the table and bathed and ready for bed EVERY NIGHT is beyond me. I don't know how I do it...but I do.99.5% yeah, I'll take that! Balance is everything. =0D

OKTOBERFEST!

Oktoberfest was a success this year! My boyfriend and my dad came back this year, and I just knew it was going to be a lot of fun. In fact, my dad had a BLAST! Everyone that met him congratulated me and my little sister for having the coolest dad on the planet. They are absolutely right!
Caroline and me during Oktoberfest. 10/1/10
I had a great time with family and friends this past weekend and I can't wait to see Jaci after work today so I can hear about her fun weekend she had at her daddy's house! She'll be excited to find out that we are going to the pumpkin patch in two weeks!

Halloween is right around the corner!..

We went shopping for our Halloween costume today and amongst all the pumpkin, fairy, princess, and avatar costumes....Jaci chose to be.........

Scroll down...

.....

...When she chose to be a cheerleader, I panicked at first because there was a KU and KSU outfit. I wasn't too worried which one she chose though, because A) She would be smart and pick the KU cheerleading outfit, or B) She would pick the KSU cheerleading outfit and therefore we would face paint her and she would go as a "dead cheerleader." haha! My dad didn't find it as funny...

Jaci Lane: Professional Flower Girl

Jaci was a flower girl for a wedding yesterday. If you haven't heard already, I shall tell you the story of our last experience as a flower girl. This past summer, Jaci had the rare opportunity to be a part of a wedding- as a flower girl. The wedding was at 2 which was in Jaci's prime nap time. Not thinking, I let her stay awake up until the wedding which made for a very very grouchy girl. I tried to please her by giving her any thing she wanted!

...but nothing worked! So when the time came to walk down the aisle, she cried the entire way and stopped at my pew and refused to walk any farther! She looked very beautiful doing it though.

Sadie and Chase decided to tie the knot and Jaci was one of the SIX flower girls. Yes, I said SIX!!! This time, Jaci wore a dress that was made by my Aunt Connie. I prayed that maybe with more girls walking, Jaci would want to walk down the aisle too.

She walked all the way down the aisle with her hand in front of her face...but that's okay, because every one thought it was cute (even with her socks unrolled) and so I consider it a success! GO JACI!

Oh yes, and this is a picture of my smokin' hot date (my boyfriend, Derek) and if you look at Jaci in the photo, you can see her super cute hairdo that Caroline did for her!! Congrats, Sadie and Chase!

Strap on your lederhosen!

I love my heritage. Volga Germans allllll ze way!

When it comes to Oktoberfest, it's kind of like Christmas for us Beilman's. Where some people make Christmas candy from November til Christ's day of birth, I make German dishes from the day school starts 'til Oktoberfest. In fact my friend, Amanda, and I make bierocks almost every year! This year I made them at the house by myself. I found a recipe for them in my Grandma's old old old cook book I got when she passed. I knew I would grow to love this cookbook even though most recipes contain a cup of LARD. LARD? Seriously? I don't even know how to obtain lard.

My yummy bierocks. =0)

Last week I made a soup pot full of GREEN BEAN DUMPLING SOUP for supper! It was so good that it only lasted til lunch the next day and it was all gone..I guess Caroline thinks GBD soup is a good breakfast and late night snack. haha I had to make a DOUBLE batch that next night just to tie us over for a couple days!

Green bean dumpling soup. Our weakness in our household..

HOPE EVERYONE HAS A SAFE AND FUN OKTOBERFEST!!

I saw this on a sidelink on my Facebook page and I just couldn't resist clicking on it (the picture was eggs, a daily meal in my home...) Here's what came up: I bolded my list.

"Well....that was interesting.."

Caroline and I like to look our best...and to look our best we have to beautify ourselves in more ways than one. Tonight was one of those nights for us. We started out joking around taking photos of each other to see who could look the ugliest in our facial masks...

Needless to say, I won the contest, but only because I was also donning my sweet metal retainer. So as we are sitting there waiting for the mask to adhere to our faces and beautify our pores and skin tone, I get this idea. "CAROLINE! Let's get on chatroulette so people can laugh at us!!!!" Best idea ever? Or worst idea ever? You decide...
This guy was really cute, so naturally Caroline freaks out like maybe someday she'll meet him and he's going to remember her mug from Chatroulette. He got a good chuckle out of us but couldn't seem to make eye contact with the beauty that is "the Beilman girls."

Those boxers had us at hello...we laughed it off and hit the next button.....bad idea....

Oh my lanta!!!! Chatroulette is a disgusting place. Is it weird that it looks like he has the same bedding set as me? I need to invest in new sheets..this makes me feel dirty in my own skin.

Last but not least, we met a guy who enjoyed our humor! But by this time, the masks had dried and began to crack and we knew our stint in the world of Chatroulette was over. Will I ever go back to Chatroulette after this experience? I don't believe so. I think I saw enough random boxers to last a lifetime...but it is an experience Caroline and I shall never forget! I'll stick to Skype from here on out!
